Parts of the Breakfast Nook Set

in Interior-design

In just about any kitchen you can find the traditional kitchen and chairs. In more modern households, the kitchen becomes more customized to the specific needs of the home. For one couple whose children were grown they removed the table and replaced it with a tall slender cafe type table with two tall metal chairs. At other times the standard seating is replaced with a breakfast nook set. Let's take a minute to explore different nook seating arrangements and nook table options.

The breakfast nook is mainly designed with a table and bench seating, or a combination of benches and chairs, instead of the standard wooden table with four or six chairs gathered around it. The point of a dining set is to provide more seating through benches, incorporate a piece of furniture into a corner space (which is many times hard to gain benefit from), while also gaining more storage within the furniture set itself.

Nook seating is the first area to be explored. Benches can be angled and joined together to provide one complete seating unit for two sides of the table. Then a second backless bench or even chairs can be added to the other side. Another seating arrangement is the use of built in benches. If you have ever looked closely at seating in a restaurant, many times the back wall of a dining room will have a long bench built into the wall which serves as seating for several tables.

This idea can also be incorporated into the breakfast nook set. Another seating arrangement is the use of a stationary bench seat built underneath of a wall of windows. This allows the table closer to the natural light provided by the windows.

The second area of parts of a nook set involves the table. The various shapes of a table are very common, but the table tops themselves can be varied. For a more contemporary kitchen with black granite counter tops an extra piece of granite can be purchased and used as a table top. Or if a wood butcher block top is used on the counter then a wood block style can be used for the table as well.
